除了表演之外,董默涵喜欢旅游,摄影,读书以及弹他的Ukulele(一种来自 葡萄牙的四根弦乐器)和编写歌曲。

In 1930’s winter, introduced by a Canadian friend, I made my acquaintance with the boy on the photograph. He comes from Ireland, was a teacher in an elementary school of a small city in Shenyang. At that moment,   foreigners in harness were in a large number, and they have accompanied translators, so they didn’t have to learn Chinese. They got 3000 RMB paid and could live well-off in China. Everyday I went to bars and ballrooms with them. None but this boy, learnt Chinese from me at full split when others amused themselves. The first step was very difficult, especially the spelling. He used to perturb, used to throw his head at the wall when it came to the most toilsome period, however, he came through it. Afterwards he went to Beijing International Studies University and Beijing Language and culture University to study, and then married a tender Shenyang girl. Today, his child was age enough to run around. Persistence depends a man’s success, let’s have a look at his achievements.

Risteard O Deorian was born in Dublin, the capital of Ireland, is now an excellent televise and television host, a professional of dubbing and comic dialogue.

At present, you can listen in his programs of City Time on Beijing Foreign Televise from Monday to Friday, as well as Julien Gaudfroy’s “Lao-Wai’s Viewpoint” on CIR every Wednesday and Thursday. Besides televise, Deorian showed himself frequently on TV, such as in “Under the Same Blue Sky” on CCTV Children’s Channel, “World Sight” on CCTV 9, "English Xiao Xiao Xiao" on Exam Channel TV and many other TV programs. In these programs, Deorian introduces Hibernian culture to Chinese audience in his own humorous way.

In March of 1998, Deorian came far away to be an English teacher in an elementary school in Liaoning Province by chance and started his “second life”. In February of 1999, he passed examination of Chinese Department of Beijing Language and Culture University, and spent three years there to gain his Chinese Bachelor’s Degree. With his progress in Chinese, he began to learn Chinese comic dialogue under the guidance of Mr. Ding Guangquan, a famous comic dialogue artist.

Deorian said “Learning comic dialogue is the best way I get to know Chinese culture. It broadens my horizon, enables me to make many friends and makes me feel that I am no longer a foreigner.” In 2000, he became a formal student of Ding Guangquan, starting his artist career in due form. From the first time he walked to the platform in fear and trembling, this Hibernian boy has taken part in nearly 200 operculum and comic dialogues. Meanwhile, Deorian has been host of many activities.

In 2004, Deorian took part in the performance of “Hua Clan Culture Festival”, acted in comic dialogue “Qi Xi”, which promoted mandarin prevalence and gained good appraisal from both local audience and media.

Apart from these, Deorian has been host of all kinds of TV programs, including Foreigners’ Acquirement Contest, The Third Chinese Contest of World Undergraduates hold in Beijing and sorts of commerce activities and news conferences. In July of 2005, Deorian joined Chinese Coal Mine Art Troupe and began to work with “Three Oranges”, a Sino- France self-help drama troupe.

During 7 years, Deorian won innumerable awards for his performances, including “Zhongguo Tong” of 2001 of Beijing TV, the “Silver Dragon Award”of the Fourth International Kunqu Opera Audience Contest and the championship of “Challenge the Host” on CCTV3 and so on.

Except performance, Deorian likes traveling, photographing, reading and playing his Ukulele (a stringed instrument from Portugal) and compiling songs.
